Kawartha Spirit Boat Cruise in Fenelon Falls

By Lori Bosworth

To make the most of the summer, try and get away on a few day trips on weekends. The trick is not having to drive too far. Fenelon Falls, which is about an hour and a half’s drive northeast of Toronto, is a lakeside resort town where you can enjoy a summer escape on the Kawartha Spirit boat, which docks at Lock 34 in downtown Fenelon Falls.

The two-hour Kawartha Spirit boat cruise is a bargain at $23 for adults and $12 for children (5-12), with children under 5 free. You can soak up the sun while enjoying a cocktail on the upper deck and cruising along Sturgeon Lake and Fenelon River. You’ll even go through a  lock on the lower Trent-Severn Waterway. After the cruise, you can wander through the shops of Fenelon Falls and  at the Boathouse Restaurant overlooking Cameron Lake or the family-oriented Falls Views Restaurant beside Fenelon Falls.

The Kawartha Spirit is offering six-hour fall colour cruises up to Thanksgiving that board at Lock 34 (Water Street public dock) in Fenelon Falls weekdays at 9 a.m. and weekends at 10:30 a.m. Call 705-887-9313 to confirm.
