In a week, April will be over and Mother’s Day will sneak up on you when you’re not looking. This year, Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 12, 2013 and Toronto restaurants will be booking up quickly for Mother’s Day brunch. Here are some suggestions to save you the time of searching for the perfect brunch spot for your mom’s special day.

Bodega Restaurant

This French-Provincial-inspired restaurant in a renovated house at Henry and Baldwin Streets will win your mom over with its crackling fireplace and stripped hardwood floors. Bodega’s prix fixe menu features soup, salad or calamari; shrimp risotto, beef bourguignon or chicken pasta; and banana cake, orange crème brulée or sorbet. After you’re finished brunch, you can stroll through Baldwin Village and stop at Chada Import Gallery for costume jewellery, scarves and other accessories or pick up healthy essentials at Baldwin Naturals. If exquisite, fine dining is what your mom appreciates, then take her to George Restaurantat 111C Queen Street East, which is serving a Mother’s Day Brunch on Sunday, May 12, 2013 for $55 plus tax and tip (kids $15 plus tax and tip). The consistently award-winning restaurant, housed in a converted Victoria chocolate factory, will be offering a first course of Grilled Asparagus with Water Buffalo Yogourt OR Red Leaf Salad with Goat Cheese Rice Cakes OR Tomato Parsnip Soup with Fennel Sausage. The second course offerings are Cornish Hen with Mushroom Bruschetta OR Black Cod with Soft Polenta OR Artichoke Quiche with Eggplant Jam. The third course is Pavlova with Coconut Cream OR Chocolate Beignets with Vanilla Mascarpone OR Caramel Sponge with Spiced Pecans.

Corner House Restaurant

Located at 501 Davenport Rd., this charming converted house is offering a Mother’s Day Brunch on Sunday, May 12, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. The brunch includes three courses and costs $38 per person. The elegant Globe Bistro at 124 Danforth Avenue will be serving a Mother’s Day prix fixe menu on Sunday, May 12, 2013. The Mother’s Day three-course brunch is $29 while a three-course Mother’s Day dinner is $35. A children’s menu is available for $10. The Mother’s Day menu will be available soon. The Boiler House

The Boiler House at 55 Mill Street in the Distillery District will be serving a special Mother’s Day Brunch on Sunday, May 12, 2012 with seatings at 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:15 p.m. and 1:45 p.m. The buffet brunch is $35 and $17.50 for children 12 and under and includes beef strip loin, Atlantic salmon, bread pudding and apple crumble in addition to the Boiler House’s regular weekend brunch items. Frank at the Art Gallery of Ontario

Frank Restaurant at the AGO is offering a Mother’s Day Brunch Buffet on Sunday, May 12, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. that includes fresh-squeezed juice, breakfast pastries, fresh fruit platter, a seafood station including oysters, salmon, shrimp, sushi and Asian gourmet dumplings, a carving station, a quiche and salad station, a la carte eggs and brunch items, a dessert station and a kid’s station. The buffet is $75 per person, $25.50 for children 6 to 13 and $12 for 5 and under. All prices do not include taxes and gratuities. Call 416-979-6688.

Oliver & Bonacini Café Grill Bayview Village

Located at 2901 Bayview Avenue in the Bayview Village Shopping Centre, Oliver & Bonacini Café Grill has now re-opened after extensive renovations. The O&B restaurant will be open for Mother’s Day in 2013 and serving their weekend à la carte brunch menu which includes Eggs Benedict ($13.95), Ham and Swiss Cheese Omelette ($12.95), Roasted Turkey Club ($13.95), Caesar Salad ($10.25), Margherita Pizza ($12.25) and Classic Bacon and Cheddar Burger ($13.95).
