Are you planning your summer vacation and wondering what you should bring? If you’re like me, you tend to bring too much and then wonder what you were thinking? You don’t want to load your trunk or baggage with items you’re not going to use on your vacation. I have highlighted some of my favourite summer vacation essentials – necessities really – to take along on your summer vacation.
Hey, when you’re on summer vacation, you want to lighten things up a bit, right? I think these large round Erika Color Mix sunglasses, $188, from Ray-Ban shout “Fun!” The larger shape is not only super stylish; it provides extra coverage against harmful UV rays. The sunglass frame is white with gold arms and lenses feature gray gradient. Pair these whimsical sunnies with your favourite swimsuit or sundress for a “I’m-on-summer-vacay” look.
Terese Marie Mailhot has written an intimate memoir, Heart Berries, documenting her dysfunctional childhood on the Seabird Island Indian Reservation, broken relationships, children and diagnosis of PTSD and bipolar II disorder. Mailhot, who has an MFA, was provided with a notebook and pen while hospitalized and started her memoir. The author unabashedly jbares her soul in gorgeously poetic passages throughout these 13 essays.
Gloss Interdit Vinyl in Electric Pink by Givenchy
I tend to go for a minimalist look when I’m on vacation. That’s why Givenchy’s Interdit Vinyl in Electric Pink is the perfect lipgloss to through in your luggage. I wear the Electric Pink shade on its own or over a light pink lipstick to give it a high gloss shine. It’s the perfect shade for the beach when you want a natural look, but something with a little more colour than a nude. You can purchase Givenchy Gloss Interdit Vinyl in Electric Pink at Sephora for C$37.

Conair CompleteSteam Handheld Fabric Steamer
I know there are a lot of great tips out there to properly pack a suitcase, but I’m usually packing at the last minute, which means that my clothes sometimes arrive a bit wrinkled. The Conair CompleteSteam Handheld Fabric Steamer is one of my favourite summer vacation essentials; it’s perfect for people like me who need to quickly steam their clothes while on vacation to get them looking wrinkle-free. I tried the steamer on a cotton and polyester blouse that had several wrinkles after I wore it and the Conair steamer got rid of most of them. My blouse looked much better after using the steamer. The Conair CompleteSteam Handheld Fabric Steamer is easy to operate – just fill it with 4 oz. of water and then plug it in. The steamer is very light to handle. Hold the steamer vertically several inches from your garment and move the steamer slowly up and down.
A must-have summer essential for any summer vacation is a great sunscreen for your face. The product claims state that it is good for 80 minutes of water and sweat resistance. I put the Vichy Ideal Soleil Anti Shine Dry Touch Lotion SPF60 to the test by wearing it to my local outdoor swimming pool, where I swam for one-and-a-half hours. Vichy’s Anti Shine Dry Touch Lotion stayed on my face while I splashed around in the pool. The lotion is not super thick like other sunscreens and applies evenly over your face, leaving no residue. The best feature of this sunscreen is its matte finish, which means your face won’t be super shiny while wearing sunscreen! The lotion was also easy to remove with my daily cleanser. Vichy Ideal Soleil Anti Shine Dry Touch Lotion SPF60 is $28.95 for 50 ml and is recommended by the Canadian Dermatology Association.
