ChickAdvisor held their annual showcase at the gorgeous Adelaide Hotel, located at 325 Bay Street in Toronto on September 30, 2018. The day brought together lifestyle and beauty lovers from across Toronto to participate in a live streaming event that was seen across the country. Torontonicity was invited to participate, and treated to a delicious lunch in the gorgeous ballroom of the hotel!

The ChickAdvisor Showcase 2018 featured a handful of products from various ChickAdvisor sponsors. This included items such as Bio-Oil, EOS balm, and Canada Dry, just to name a few. Guests were seated at tables with other members, which allowed for open discussions on the products. I found this super helpful, because it’s nice to see firsthand how others use products, and discuss uncertainties with like-minded individuals.
One example of this was how Australia’s own Nude by Nature Touch of Glow Highlighter Stick was used at my table: one member used it as a lippy, while I immediately went for a shimmering shadow application. Without realizing it, we had discovered that the stick could easily be used to create a gorgeous monochromatic look!
The ChickAdvisor Showcase was also a great way to become familiar with new brands. I haven’t used Nude by Nature products before, but I have heard the hype about the natural beauty brand’s amazing quality that’s completely free of all those terrible ingredients: no parabens, silicones, talc, or bismuth. Showcase guests were invited to try their Natural Glow Loose Bronzer, with easy application using their Flawless brush, and WOW! The bronzer looks very natural, is super finely milled, and completely matte. It’s instantly a new favourite!
The Neutrogena Hydro Boost Multivitamin Booster with Hyaluronic acid and multivitamin complex serum was given to guests to try as well. The serum does leave a slight tackiness behind, which makes it an ideal primer for anyone wanting their foundation to stick. The hyaluronic acid is also great for those dry winter months we’re about to face – yes, winter IS coming.
Another great product that we were given was a full-sized and travel-sized Bio-Oil! Originally intended for stretch marks and dry skin, Bio-Oil is a tried and true skin saver. This is my favourite makeup remover during the winter, as it isn’t harsh on my sensitive skin, and helps repair after possible scars or acne marks.
Aside from all the gorgeous lifestyle and beauty products we were invited to test, guests were also treated to a delicious buffet style lunch. Croissants, smoked salmon sandwiches, mini quiche tarts, and various desserts were available for every variety of dietary need. My personal favourite was the golden beet, orange, yuzu dressing, and salted pumpkin seed salad though. Very refreshing and light, with the yuzu dressing boosting the citrus flavours along with the orange. Golden beets can be quite sweet and earthy tasting, but this was so delightful, and worth repeating.
The ancient grain, golden raisin, sweet pepper, champagne vinaigrette and yogurt salad was also fantastic. I loved the individually served mini mason jars, which allowed guests to sample a bit of everything if they so desired. Great job to The Adelaide Hotel culinary staff!
After all the delicious food and short coffee break, we were given not just one, but three shades of the new Bobbi Brown Luxe Liquid High Shine lipsticks! A rose-tone nude, a blue-based pink, and a classic red. The formula is very moisturizing, and doesn’t leave your lips feeling dry or damaged, but it does take a few minutes to dry down with some transferring after. If you have dry lips as is, and have stayed away from liquid lipsticks, give this line a shot as the colours are incredibly saturated and just plain gorgeous.
This was quite the busy day, and we all enjoyed every minute of it! Our product bag had a value of over $300, not to mention the delicious bites we were treated to. If you’ve considered attending the ChickAdvisor Showcase in the past, I would highly recommend it as it’s a great opportunity to connect with other beauty lovers, and to be treated to an afternoon of absolute fun! Make sure to register with ChickAdvisor if you’re not a member already, and keep an eye out for the next showcase! Hope to see you there!
