Or the coworker who laments how much better the office used to run under a previous manager or that an older payroll system was easier to use. All of this complaining about what happened in the past prevents new ideas or solutions to enter your consciousness and keeps you stuck.

Spend 15 minutes a day or 30 minutes three or four times a week reading about issues, new developments and changes in your field. For me, this means keeping abreast of changes to social media and blogging apps. Keeping ourselves up-to-date in this information-centred world is no mean feat, but it’s much easier to do if you manage it in small bites. We all know people who have neglected to keep up with their computer skills. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), technology is the basis of how our world operates and you can either go with the flow by keeping yourself current or get swallowed up in the tide.

Work According to Your Energy Level
That’s what I’m doing right now. I find my energy level is highest in the morning so I try to schedule all my writing in the morning and I do other activities in the afternoon such as posting on social media, editing, planning content, responding to comments, sending out pitches and taking photos. Many people function much better at night. If that’s the case, schedule errands or exercise in the morning, lighter tasks in the afternoon and meatier tasks after the sun sets.
Surround Yourself with Positive People
Your tribe should encourage you to pursue your goals, believe in your dreams, and be happy for you when you reach your goals. If you have friends or acquaintances who do not offer encouragement along your path or even worse, belittle your achievements, you may want to consider whether they offer a positive presence in your life. Of course, relationships are reciprocal, so make sure you are offering positivity and support to family and friends in your life.
